Safe Harbor is looking for volunteers who enjoy enriching the lives of one of God's greatest gift; our children. As a Childcare volunteer, you will be a direct influence and representation of Safe Harbor to all whom you assist, greet, and interact with. You will be responsible for supervising children during specified times. Please always be mindful of what our guests face and the world in which they live. Loving on the children, helping them to feel safe and security should be our volunteers priority. As a Safe Harbor Volunteer, we hope that your purpose is one of compassion, accompanied by a giving heart, and a discerning and motivated spirit.
Key Responsibilities of the Childcare Volunteer:
- Assisting staff as needed. This includes checking in with staff (if available) upon arrival or responding to staff direction through phone calls, emails, and/or texts. We ask that all volunteers make sure to utilize the sign-in sheet upon arrival and when leaving
- Supervising children as needed. If time allows, we ask that volunteers wipe down toys periodically, dust and check the children's room trash can
- Be willing to listen to the children. Talk to them and be an encouraging, positive influence in their lives
- Be willing to correct the children, in a loving way. We ask that whomever volunteers in our Childcare room feels comfortable being firm with the children, in a loving way, that allows them to see the love that you have for them
Time Requirement: 1 shift per week, Tuesday evening, 12-13 weeks, for the On Purpose Class that the volunteer is committing to supply childcare for. Childcare shift for the first Thursday of the month for Five Star Care Team meetings. Time commitment is 6:15-8:15 p.m. Additional shifts are welcomed at volunteer's availability and needs.
