As a mentor, safe friend, you will be working with the women in the GreenLeaf Transitional Living Program or Whole Woman Program. Mentors are safe friends that play a vital and influential role in assisting the director and case manager in accomplishing specific programming goals as well as being a reliable and trusted source of encouragement, a consistent prayer partner, and a spiritual friend to the GreenLeaf or Whole Woman resident. 

Key Responsibilities for all Safe Friend/Mentor: 

Time Requirements: 

Mentor or Safe Friend: One and half to two hours minimum every two weeks with occasional phone calls, church visits, and mentor events (outings are quite flexible) 

This particular volunteer will be working alongside the Volunteer and Events Coordinator with the primary tasks/functions aiming to maintain the core needs of the volunteer program. The right volunteer will be able to assist with data entry and reporting, ultimately striving towards all ministry volunteer needs being met throughout the different programs while keeping volunteer information up to date and reliable. This volunteer must be aware of and able to adjust to developing needs of the volunteer program.

As a Volunteer and Community Outreach Assistant, you will be a direct influence and representative of Safe Harbor to all whom you assist, greet, and interact with. All volunteers are considered ambassadors of Safe Harbor as you will have the opportunity to share the components of the ministry and needs of Safe Harbor inside and outside of these office walls on a daily basis. 

Probably THE most important volunteer position at ReSource. Sorting clothing and other donated items, determines what goes out on the floor for sale and what doesn't. This position makes a huge impact on the store's outcome and how that effects the lives of the women and children Safe Harbor serves. 

The sorter will take donated items and, yes you guessed it, sort them from what is to be priced and eventually merchandised on the sales floor and what gets recycled. Sort clothing, household ware, accessories, shoes, are among some of the items you'll be working with. 

This position would be good for someone who is detailed, task oriented and has a good eye for what is on trend. But don't worry, we do provide training and a guide for reference. 

This volunteer position is suited for volunteers that are individual, pairs or groups. This volunteer opportunity offers a flexible schedule in 2 to 4 hour shifts Monday-Saturdays too work with your availability. 

Our Community Center is looking volunteers willing to above and beyond in the following areas: 

1.) Meal Providers Will Need To: 

We ask that all meals consist of the following:

-Casserole or meat

-Vegetable or Salad 

-Starch: Rice, Potatoes, Pasta, Beans, Mac and Cheese, Etc. 

-Bread

-Drinks: 1 gallon of sweat tea, 1 gallon of unsweet tea, 1 gallon of lemonade, 1 gallon of water

-Dessert: (optional) Mixed fruit or a medium-low sugar dessert 

Safe Harbor will provide disposable plates, cups, plastic ware and napkins

3.) What Would Leading/Assisting with Recreational Time Look Like?:

Examples: A cold, rainy afternoon could result in tired ladies who would enjoy a quiet movie with popcorn. A sunny, warm afternoon might include sitting outside or participating games on the lawn. A laid back, quiet group might enjoy adult coloring to relax. Simple crafts usually spark interest in the ladies (or so we have found in the past). Games, such as bingo are often a big hit in our community center as well! 

Safe Harbor's Development Director is looking for assistance in cultivating existing donors and prospecting for new (businesses and churches). This position would include, but is not limited to: 

Time Requirement: Minimum of once per week, 2-4 hours (or as needed). There is an opportunity to work from home making phone calls or making/confirming appointments etc. 

Our Administrative Office is seeking a volunteer to serve as a direct influence and representative of Safe Harbor to all whom you assist, greet, and interact with. All office volunteers at Safe Harbor are considered ambassadors as you will constantly have the opportunity to share the ministry components and needs of Safe Harbor both inside and outside of our office walls. An Office Volunteer will be expected to help with duties such as clerical tasks and the every-day flow of office happenings for the day. Office Volunteers will also be expected to help staff stay organized and aware of developing needs or situations and assist donors through our donation intake process, utilizing our donation intake center as needed. We ask that all guests and callers are greeted with courtesy and kindness as this is how we share the love of Christ with all whom we connect. 

Stephen Ministers provide one on one support for the women visiting the Community Center. This particular volunteer is trained to be a listening ear and a prayerful support for her care receiver for as long as they mutually agree that the relationship is beneficial. Stephen Ministers play a vital and influential role as each assists the Service Navigator in offering emotional well being support/guidance in dealing with day to day hardships and occurrences, as well as being a reliable and trusted encourager, prayer partner, role model, and Godly support to the community center guests. 

Time Requirements: Average 30 minutes in person weekly sessions in the Community Center

As an "On-Call" Volunteer Driver, you will be utilized to fill in for our existing Community Center volunteers when they are absent. You will also be responsible for the drop off and pick up of Community Center guests as driving requests and other tasks are needed. 

As a Community Center volunteer, you are a direct influence and representation of Safe Harbor to all whom you assist, greet, and interact with. A Safe Harbor volunteer should always be mindful of what our guests face and the world in which they live. The volunteer's purpose should be fueled by love for all, compassion, and a giving heart accompanied by a discerning and motivated spirit.  

Time requirement: Shifts: Flexible, as needed. 

As a Community Center volunteer, you will be a direct influence and representation of Safe Harbor to all whom you assist, greet, and interact with. Community Center volunteers are expected to help staff and guests with various daily tasks and are aware of developing needs or situations. A volunteer is always mindful of what our guests face and the world in which they live. The volunteer's purpose should be fueled by love for all, compassion, and a giving heart accompanied by a discerning and motivated spirit. 

Key responsibilities of a Community Center volunteer are as follows: 

Time Requirement: Shifts: AM or PM half day shifts, 9am-12/12-3pm or all day 9-3pm, Monday-Friday. Three to six hour shifts available, depending upon volunteer's availability and Community Center needs.

Community Center volunteers help staff and guests with various daily tasks and are aware of developing needs or situations. Key Responsibilities of a Medical Triage Volunteer are as follows: 

Time Requirement: Shifts: AM, Weekdays 10 am - 12 noon, Monday-Friday

As a Community Outreach Volunteer you are a direct influence and representation of Safe Harbor to all whom you meet and interact with. You will have the opportunity to share the ministry components and needs of Safe Harbor at events, out in the community, and within your own social network. The purpose of a Community Outreach Volunteer is to help the development team raise awareness of Safe Harbor by attending events on behalf of Safe Harbor and through sharing Safe Harbor in the community.

Key Responsibilities of the Community Outreach Volunteer: 

Time Requirement: As available, when needed to cover an event. We ask that our volunteers make an effort to stay connected in-between events. 

The GreenLeaf Program is actively seeking one on one support for women currently transitioning into their new life as a GreenLeaf resident. Stephen Ministers are trained to be a listening ear and a prayerful support for their particular care receiver for as long as the two mutually agree that the relationship is beneficial. Ideally, the relationship would continue for a period of time after the resident has acquired housing outside of GreenLeaf. Stephen Ministers play a vital and influential role as each assist the GreenLeaf Manager and Case Manager in accomplishing specific program goals, as well as being a reliable and trusted encourager, prayer partner, role model, and Godly support to the GreenLeaf resident. 

Key Responsibilities of a Stephen Minister: 

Time Requirement: On average, one hour in person (weekly) with occasional phone calls, church visits, and mentor events (flexible outings) 

The GreenLeaf Transitional Apartments are in need of regular volunteers willing to assist with the following: 

Occasionally there may be a need for work inside of the apartments. On rainy days, we may ask volunteers to assist with the following: 

Time Requirement: Flexible hours, as needed every one to two months. When a need arises, cleaning crew volunteers will be contacted to assess availability. 

Safe Harbor is looking for a hard working volunteer willing to aid and support the Facility and Project Manager with building and property upkeep and related maintenance or maintenance issues in efforts to prevent staff and residents from having to spend their time tending to such issues.

Key Responsibilities of the Facility and Property Maintenance Support would include:

Safe Harbor's High Country Recovery Center for Women is currently seeking a passionate On Purpose Teacher/Class Facilitator Volunteer. As a volunteer for Safe Harbor, you are a direct influence to all whom you assist, greet, and interact with. You will be teaching a class, leading a book study, and/or facilitating a group discussion during a specified time. We ask that as a Safe Harbor volunteer, you serve with purpose, compassion, a giving heart, accompanied by a discerning and motivated spirit. 

Key Responsibilities of the On Purpose Teacher/Class Facilitator: 

Time Requirement: 1 class per year, 1 to 2 hours in length, ranging from 5 to 12 weeks long. You may choose to lead another class if desired and scheduling permits. 

Safe Harbor is looking for volunteers who are not only passionate about their own faith, but enjoy helping others step into their own spiritual discipleship as well. As an On Purpose Techer/Class Facilitator, you will be a direct influence and representation of Safe Harbor to all whom you assist, greet, and interact with. You will be teaching a class, leading book studies, and/or facilitating discussion groups during specified times. As a Safe Harbor volunteer, we hope that your purpose is one of compassion, accompanied by a giving heart, and a discerning and motivated spirit. 

Key Responsibilities of an On Purpose Teacher/Class Facilitator: 

Time Requirement: 1 class per year, 1 to 2 hours in length on a weekly basis, ranging from 5 to 12 weeks long. You are more than welcome to lead another class if you desire to do so and scheduling permits. 

Safe Harbor is looking for volunteers who enjoy enriching the lives of one of God's greatest gift; our children. As a Childcare volunteer, you will be a direct influence and representation of Safe Harbor to all whom you assist, greet, and interact with. You will be responsible for supervising children during specified times. Please always be mindful of what our guests face and the world in which they live. Loving on the children, helping them to feel safe and security should be our volunteers priority. Key Responsibilities of the Childcare Volunteer: 

Time Requirement: 1 shift per week, Tuesday evening, 12-13 weeks, for the On Purpose Class that the volunteer is committing to supply childcare for. Childcare shift for the first Thursday of the month for Five Star Care Team meetings. Time commitment  is 6:15-8:15 p.m. Additional shifts are welcomed at volunteer's availability and needs.

Safe Harbor's Whole Woman and GreenLeaf Programs are actively seeking 5 Star Care Team Mentor to join our amazing volunteer team! As a 5 Sar Care Team Mentor, you will be mentoring the women in either one of our residential programs. Care Team members play a vital and influential role in 5 key areas to help build sustained recovery and independent living. Assisting the director and case manager(s) in accomplishing specific programming goals, as well as being a reliable and trusted encourager, prayer partner, role model, and spiritual friend to each resident. 

Key Responsibilities of a 5 Star Care Team Member: 

Time Requirement: A 5 Star Care Team Mentor will be expected to attend monthly group sessions on the first Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. We ask that whomever takes on this volunteer role is willing to meet one-on-one, outside of group sessions, when there is a need to do so. This mentee/mentor relationship may require follow up calls and texts (on an as needed basis)

Safe Harbor's Whole Woman Program is looking for an organized volunteer to assist in the Residential Recovery House office. As an office volunteer, you will be a direct influence and representation of Safe Harbor to all whom you assist, greet, and interact with. The office volunteer will help with office duties and tasks, while also helping residential staff to stay organized and aware of developing needs/situations in the residential facility. Some of those needs will be: taking and forwarding messages, informing and sending messages to administrative staff, greeting guests with courtesy and kindness, offering help and giving direction to residents, and driving women to appointments and/or work as needed. 

Key Responsibilities of the Residential Office Volunteer: 

Time Requirement: One shift per week, AM or PM. 

AM Shift: 9:30am to 1:00pm (OR) PM Shift: 1:00pm to 5:00pm

Do you like to design, organize, create, as well as interact with the community? The Sales Floor volunteer opportunity is for you!

In this role you will take donated items that have been priced and merchandise those items on the sales floor. These items include clothing, accessories, housewares and decor. You can have fun staging the sales floor to make it appealing to our customers. There will be opportunities to assist the Merchandiser in creating window displays and dress mannequins and set table designs. If you like to organize and take a project on, you get to do that as well. From time to time we like to reorganize a section like the holiday room or totally transform an entire section of the store!

This volunteer role is a great way to meet people in the community by engaging with ReSource customers and assisting them with their thrifting needs.

We are looking for a devoted volunteer that would like to share parenting tips, tricks, and advice with residents in the GreenLeaf Program. The right volunteer would have compassion and understanding of what our residents have been through/are going through and be willing to lean into teaching our residents how to parent with the same grace that God continues to give us.   

Seeking outgoing and gracious volunteers to help with intake at our social enterprise, Resource Warehouse. This is a physically demanding position, which involves unloading donations from vehicles and placing them in their appropriate locations. 

Resource Warehouse is seeking a an outgoing volunteer that is willing to assist with social media posts, data entry, and other general office duties. The right volunteer for this position would be someone that is available a minimum of 2 hours at a time, at least 2 days a week. Familiarity with social media platforms (FB, Instagram, TikTok), Google Office, Canva and Microsoft Office are preferred.

We ask that volunteers be 18 years of age or older (high school/college students and older). 

Anyone interning with the Whole Woman Program will log their volunteer hours under this opportunity.

Counselors play a vital and influential role as each assists the Service Navigator in offering emotional well being support, guidance in dealing with day to day hardships and occurrences, as well as being a reliable and trusted encourager, prayer partner, role model, and Godly support to the Community Center Guest.

Safe Harbor is looking for a volunteer that loves all things related to event coordinating. 

We have a number of events throughout the year that need someone with an eye for detail and a heart for changing lives. The ideal volunteer for this position would have the time to dedicate to making these events as spectacular as we would like them to be while using their own creativity to educate the community and bring awareness to Safe Harbor.

Our Donor Relations and Database Administrator is looking for an assistant to help with data entry. Ideally, this person would come in Monday and Tuesday each week and stay for about two hours each day entering data into Safe Harbor's database (we are willing to work with the volunteer's schedule also). Both our Hickory and High Country locations are looking for dedicated volunteers who are willing to "tidy" up a bit. The ideal volunteer for this position would water plants, take the trash out, and do some light cleaning throughout our buildings.
